We have a great opportunity for a Band 7 senior Occupational Health Advisor to join us at the Employee wellbeing Service at Barts Health. You will be working with an established, friendly team that offers an innovative model to preventative health for all Barts staff. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of occupational health specialists.
Responsibilities
- Work flexibly remotely and occasionally onsite
- Consult staff on new roles and ensure they have the correct immunisation requirements
- Provide immunisations
- Perform phlebotomy
- Monitor blood borne virus risks
- Complete health surveillance, providing training or updates as needed
- Act as case manager for management referrals, including complex cases, handling up to six referrals per day
- Engage in peer audit and access teaching from experienced OHAs
- Receive clinical supervision and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Provide line management responsibilities to a small group of occupational health staff
Main duties: Participate in an efficient, effective, comprehensive, high‑quality occupational health service, providing evidence‑based occupational health advice, case management, and detailed reports to support managers in providing reasonable adjustments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant experience in occupational health post‑qualification or equivalent
- Experience in health‑care settings, audit and use of evidence‑based practice
- Experience with sickness absence and return‑to‑work assessments
- Management experience (supervising, teaching, mentorship)
- Experience writing reports and collating statistics using Excel
- Leadership and influencing skills
- Ability to handle difficult and sensitive issues
- Excellent negotiation, persuasion, interpersonal and dispute resolution skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, current OH issues within the NHS, health and safety legislation, and people‑management processes
Desirable Qualifications
- Management or leadership qualification
- Previous line management experience
- Spirometry qualification
- Audiology qualification
- Evidence of OH post‑qualification study at BSc/MSc level
