Work location: Barnstaple and surrounding areas

Are you committed to supporting people affected by domestic abuse and making a real difference in your community?

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) or someone willing to train on the job, to join our North Devon Community Services Team in NDADA, working as part of the Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA). You’ll provide frontline, trauma-informed support to victims of domestic abuse, helping them stay safe, navigate their options, and access the services they need.

This role is rooted in multi-agency partnership working and offers flexibility to engage individuals in a way that works for them.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide tailored, risk-led support to clients experiencing domestic abuse
2. Complete and regularly review risk assessments and safety plans
3. Advocate for clients in multi-agency settings, including MARACs
4. Offer advice on housing, legal, financial, and safeguarding matters
5. Support clients through the criminal and civil justice systems
6. Maintain accurate case records using electronic case management systems
7. Work closely with other DDAA services and partners to ensure coordinated, holistic support
8. Promote survivor empowerment, recovery, and choice at every stage


About You:
You’ll bring experience supporting vulnerable individuals, strong safeguarding knowledge, and a trauma-informed, person-centred approach. You're confident working with partner agencies and committed to advocating for the needs and safety of every client.

You’ll also have:

9. Excellent communication and case management skills
10. Knowledge of the local support network and referral pathways
11. A collaborative, resilient, and flexible working style
