We are looking to take on an experienced horticulturist / team leader to join our maintenance team. We have some fantastic gardens and we are proud to maintain and continue to elevate these to exceeding standards. In this position you will be supporting the Head of Horticulture in growing the business, supervising junior gardeners and maintenance operators, while taking ownership of your own gardens. This role would require a hands on and practical approach, ensuring that high standards are replicated.
We pride ourselves on teaching good horticultural practices to the less experienced members of the team and a progression focused work ethic is encouraged to those wanting to train in certain aspects of gardening, you should be able to support this. In turn, the Head of Horticulture will help to identify areas for your own development and will mentor you, assisting you in continuing your own journey.
As a senior gardener / horticulturalist you will have very good plant knowledge and be well versed in current garden maintenance techniques, be aware of effective routines for machinery maintenance, be health and safety aware, have a sharp eye for detail, an ability to supervise teams and communicate with clients.

Our normal times are, although as you are experienced in the industry, you will be aware that we will often work later than 4.30 in the spring and summer, often finishing earlier during winter months.
Responsibilities
* Maintain garden areas through good horticultural practice.
* Operate and maintain power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
* To identify issues in gardens and to raise them with the head of horticulture.
* To support the Head of Horticulture in client communication and gardens management
* To supervise junior members of the teams and direct their daily work where necessary
* Train and mentor junior gardening staff in best practices for plant care and maintenance
* Manage planting schemes to optimise growth cycles
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all gardening activities
Qualifications/requirements
* Level 3 horticultural qualification
* At least 5 years proven experience in gardening or horticulture, with a strong understanding of plant genus/species and their care requirements.
* Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools related to gardening tasks.
* Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques, including irrigation methods.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with team members and clients.
* A passion for growing plants and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces.
* Spraying and chainsaw tickets advantageous but not essential
* Full driving licence essential

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
