The Pall Mall Surgery has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis for 15 hours per week, working 8am - 1pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the patient experience at our practice, assisting with access to services and handling queries face-to-face, online, and by telephone. The main responsibilities include:
1. Greeting and directing patients.
2. Supporting the triage doctor.
3. Making appointments.
4. Answering queries from patients and outside agencies, and signposting to the appropriate staff.
5. Handling prescriptions, letters, completed forms, and specimen bottles.
6. Advising patients on practice procedures.
7. Registering new patients.
The practice boasts a wealth of experience from GPs, physician associates, nurse practitioners, frailty team, ECPs, nurses, associate practitioners, HCAs, and phlebotomists. Our dedicated administration team works closely with our clinical staff to provide excellent patient care in a supportive environment. We value ideas and foster an inclusive, enjoyable, and fulfilling work atmosphere.
We operate a total triage system to ensure quick decisions about patient care, providing face-to-face (15-minute) appointments and telephone consultations (10 minutes).
Working in general practice requires a calm, caring approach and the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with customer service/patient experience, excellent communication skills, and the following attributes:
* Polite, confidential, and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues.
* Experience working with the public, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Strong IT and administrative skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
* Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
Some flexibility in working hours may be required to cover for colleagues.
