Responsibilities
* Ensures Regulatory Compliance Across Europe: Leads mechanical integrity efforts to maintain full compliance with EU and UK pressure equipment regulations, safeguarding operational safety and legal adherence across all European sites.
* Mitigates Risk of Mechanical Failures: Provides expert leadership in mechanical integrity assessments and repair planning to reduce the risk of equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
* Drives Capital Project Success: Manages and executes key capital projects at the Barry site, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with engineering goals.
* Sets Engineering Standards Across the Region: Develops and approves mechanical and structural engineering standards and designs for consistency across EU sites.
* Leads Cross-Functional Collaboration for Asset Reliability: Acts as a subject matter expert in mechanical integrity, collaborating with site leaders, maintenance teams, and external consultants to optimize asset performance and lifecycle planning.
* Life in Barry (context): Barry is a seaside town in Wales with beaches and transport links.
* Typical Day / Responsibilities: Lead Mechanical Integrity Assessments, Maintain and Update Criticality Registers, Develop Written Schemes of Examination, Approve Mechanical and Structural Designs, Manage Capital Projects, Collaborate with Stakeholders, Monitor and Report Asset Condition.
What is Needed to be Successful
* Education: University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a Mechanical or Project Engineering role within the chemical or process industries.
* Mechanical Integrity Expertise: Experience in WSE, inspection planning, degradation analysis, and repair execution.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of EU standards and directives (e.g., PED 2014/68/EU, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Seveso Directive).
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, including working with non-native English speakers.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
* Technical Leadership: SME in mechanical integrity and structural design.
* Project Management: Leading capital projects from scope to execution.
* Analytical Thinking: Assess degradation, failure modes, and material suitability.
* Collaboration: Cross-functional work with site leaders, maintenance teams, and external consultants.
* Systems Knowledge: SAP for asset condition reporting and compliance tracking.
* Standard Development: Develop and maintain engineering standards (pipe classes, vessel design, metallurgy).
* Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel within Europe up to one week at a time, as required.
