Job Description
My client are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their Private Client department on a full-time, permanent basis.
Summary of Position:
1. Assist fee earners in progressing matters from start to finish.
2. Liaise with clients and third parties.
3. Conduct KYC checks and research.
4. Prepare estate accounts.
5. Undertake other legal tasks as appropriate.
Primary Responsibilities:
6. Assist in processing client matters from start to finish in an effective and timely manner.
7. Respect client and firm confidentiality at all times.
8. Adhere to company policies on the storage and handling of confidential information.
9. Ensure clients are updated at appropriate points in their matter.
10. Undertake regular housekeeping of files to ensure prompt file closures.
11. Conduct legal and factual research as required.
12. Comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
13. Produce documents using digital audio dictation systems.
14. Attend all departmental and wider staff meetings.
15. Assist in preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney in accordance with client wishes.
16. Undertake training as required by the Law Society and the firm.
17. Recognise, record, and adhere to all critical and key dates.
18. Act in accordance with the firm\'s policies and procedures.
19. Assist in the production of estate accounts.
20. Share information and training with team members to ensure continuity of work practices and procedures.
21. Conduct KYC checks on clients and appropriate checks on beneficiaries and others.
22. Assist with onboarding of new staff members when required.
23. Liaise with third parties where necessary.
24. Promote the interests of the firm wherever possible.
25. Review and analyse documents from clients and third parties, understanding their significance in each matter.
26. Contribute to systems development where possible.
The Candidate:
We are looking for an individual with experience of and exposure to all aspects of private client work, i.e., Wills, LPAs, probate, trusts, etc. The right candidate will need to have initiative and be able to complete tasks without much supervision. This will include completing LPAs online and registering them, registering trusts and completing IHT forms.
