Job overview
We are excited to advertise a New Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic post within The Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic engaged candidate to be appointed as Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon, with a specialist interest in lower limb hip & knee arthroplasty, revision hip surgery, and to help with the management of periprosthetic fractures.
This post has a 10PA job plan and on-call commitment to a 1 in 12 rota.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide:
* A high quality elective arthroplasty and revision service, including MDT
* A high quality trauma service, including managing the oncall week, operating/clinics/oncalls.
* Effective/ efficient working to improve the overall efficiency and financial viability of the service
* A reduction in the referral to treatment time for patients
* Teaching/ support to Residents and Medical Students
* Support for local/ National audit

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice)
* CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
* CESR
* Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical School.
* ATLS / APLS / ALS
* Distinctions, scholarships, prizes
* Other degrees, e.g. BSc, MSc, MD
* At least three years in Higher Training in hip or knee subspecialty
Knowledge
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
* Ability to prioritise clinical need
* Ability to supervise multi-disciplinary teams.
* Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of the department.
