Unlock Your Passions at Sanders Vets
Sanders Vets is a friendly and forward‑thinking small animal practice located in Cwmbran, Wales. The practice is situated only a 10‑minute walk from Cwmbran train station, close to major bus routes and only 20 minutes’ drive from Newport and 30 minutes from Cardiff.
Our team includes 3 vets, 6 nurses, 1 veterinary care assistant, 3 receptionists, 1 administrator and a practice manager. The clinical director is completing an ophthalmology certificate, and we have a vet with a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Feline Medicine). Several nurses hold certificates in nurse consulting, feline nursing, dog training, and some are working towards an anaesthesia certificate.
Facilities include four consulting rooms, a dedicated discharge and euthanasia room, a double operating theatre, a large prep room, separate kennels and cattery, a dental suite with dental X‑ray, and an imaging room featuring ultrasound, endoscopy, and X‑ray. We also have in‑house Idexx lab machines, patient warming systems, capnography and much more to support advanced veterinary care.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a full‑time Graduate Veterinary Surgeon. The role involves 40 hours per week across four days: two days dedicated to operations and two days to consultations. Shifts run between 9 am and 6:45 pm, with a Saturday‑morning clinic (9 am–12 pm) occurring on 1 in 3 Saturdays. There are no out‑of‑hours or bank holiday duties.
You will benefit from the support of our experienced vets, including a dedicated mentor who will provide one‑to‑one support and weekly meetings initially. You will have opportunities to shadow senior vets and spend time with the reception and nurse teams before gradually taking on a more advanced caseload and surgical responsibilities as your skills develop.
