Sales Engineer - Aviation (Hybrid, Bournemouth)
We are seeking a skilled Sales Engineer to join our Bournemouth-based team, with hybrid working options available. Sitting within a dynamic MRO Sales environment in our aircraft maintenance organisation, this position reports directly to the Head of Sales (MRO).
This role requires a strong understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation, accurate cost estimation, and the ability to develop tailored proposals that meet diverse customer requirements.
As an essential part of the sales and planning process, you will collaborate closely with internal departments, analyse market trends, and engage directly with clients to provide exceptional service and innovative solutions. Responsibilities
* Analyse and interpret aviation documentation, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs), and modification/design documentation.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and deliver competitive, customer-focused proposals.
* Produce accurate quotes for maintenance services and parts.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure proposals and solutions are delivered accurately and on time.
* Research and evaluate market trends, including parts pricing, maintenance schedules, and competitor offerings.
* Liaise with customers and internal departments throughout the early planning stages of projects.
* Maintain and develop databases used for sales and quotation activities.
* Assist with data collation and verification for invoice preparation.
* Provide general and technical administrative support as required.
* Attend client meetings, industry events, and conferences, with occasional travel.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
* Strong understanding of aviation documentation (AMMs, SBs, ADs, STCs, and modification/design files).
* Proven experience in aviation sales, engineering, or a closely related field.
* Excellent analytical abilities, including cost estimation and proposal creation.
* Ability to research and interpret market trends, competitive offerings, and pricing structures.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate long-term client relationships.
* Comfortable collaborating across departments to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Self-driven, detail-oriented, and effective at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and industry events.
* Familiarity with aviation-related software tools and systems (advantageous).
