About the role
SZC is owned by shareholders EDF and HMG, holding investments through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholdings will evolve during the current arrangements. The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close via equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's role encompasses designing, financing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning the Sizewell C nuclear power plant and related infrastructure, including activities related to hydrogen, direct air capture, and desalination at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The current development phase aims to finalize the Capital Raise Plan, secure core supply chain contracts, and obtain necessary regulatory permits and licenses for construction.
Previously, SZC operated as part of EDF's Nuclear Development business unit, staffed by EDF colleagues and contractors transitioning to direct employment. The organization is establishing itself to deliver a new nuclear power plant, from investment and funding to construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
What you'll be doing
The SZC project requires an Engineering Manager to lead and coordinate construction engineering for the Enabling Works and Earthworks during the delivery phase. This site-based role ensures Engineering Delivery Excellence through adherence to engineering processes, procedures, and best practices. The scope includes constructing critical civil engineering elements such as access bridges, sea defenses, retaining structures, environmental barriers, TBM launch shafts, and marine delivery structures. The Engineering Manager will oversee right-first-time delivery, coordinate across disciplines, establish the organization and resource structure, and work with technical leads, clients, and stakeholders to manage complex technical interfaces. Collaboration with support functions like procurement, commercial, information management, digital engineering, and project controls is essential to ensure robust project management and efficient delivery. The manager will also develop and manage a delivery strategy aligned with industry, Civil Works alliance, and Sizewell C procedures.

Knowledge & Skills
Essential
* Construction experience, including Temporary Works and HSQE.
* Experience on large infrastructure projects involving earthworks and structures.
* Understanding of earthworks, geology, materials, and methods.
* Ability to interpret detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and manage quality.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Project management skills such as planning and scope definition.
* Proficiency with digital tools, including BIM.
* Self-discipline and effective time management.
* Problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
Desirable
* Experience with marine structures.
* Experience with deep foundations.
* Experience in construction site surveying.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Civil engineering degree or equivalent.
* Managing temporary works experience.
* Experience managing surface water and groundwater in earthworks.
Desirable
* Chartered status or working towards it.
