An enthusiastic and experienced Groundsperson, you will join our busy grounds maintenance team within Estates & Property Services. You will have proven grounds maintenance experience and a good knowledge of Horticultural Machinery. Experience in the use of grounds equipment would be an advantage but is not essential.

Job Description
RESPONSIBLE TO: Grounds Supervisor
RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory responsibility
PURPOSE OF POST:Undertakes duties as part of a team to supply grounds maintenance services to the University and where necessary to assist in janitorial duties.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Grass cutting using horticultural machinery
Collects and removes litter
Maintains lawn mowers and other grounds equipment
Maintains trees and shrubbery
Applies fertilisers and weedkillers
Uplifts leaves in autumn
Hedge cutting
Pruning of shrubs
Turfing, planting and seeding
Undertakes snow and ice clearing in winter - an on-call rota is currently in place between Nov to Feb.
Assistin janitorial duties from time to time
Carries out other related duties as may be assigned
Person Specification
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
First aid training or willingness to undertake.
Use of pesticides certification (PA1/PA6A/AW).
Full driving licence.
Knowledge
Knowledge of Horticultural Machinery.
Experience
Proven grounds maintenance experience including use of a range of machinery.
Experience of working in a team.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Related certificates in grounds maintenance work or similar.
Experience
Experience in maintenance of grounds equipment including lawn mowers.
Use of and application of fertilisers.
