Job Title: Cancer Nurse Specialist Lead
The post holder will report directly to the Lead Cancer Nurse and work closely with the Trust Cancer Clinical Director, Director of Clinical Services, Deputy Director of Elective Care, and Cancer Manager. They will contribute to the development and enhancement of trust-wide cancer services, acting as a resource and leading specific initiatives to improve efficiency and quality for cancer patients across divisions.
The role promotes quality, innovation, efficiency, productivity, and performance to improve patient care and outcomes. The post holder will collaborate internally and externally, utilizing their experience to work at a senior level to support the OUHFT's vision of being world-class and delivering compassionate excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Lead Cancer Nurse in managing the Cancer Specialist Nursing teams.
2. Deputise for the Lead Cancer Nurse in their absence.
3. Maintain visibility, accessibility, and approachability to ensure open communication and effective care assessments.
4. Provide expert professional leadership to cancer nursing teams.
5. Contribute to the strategic direction of cancer services in alignment with the Trust's values and national cancer policies, offering expert advice on service development.
Management and Leadership:
* Manage cancer specialist nursing teams, with specialities assigned based on clinical experience.
* Provide clear leadership in areas related to compassionate excellence in cancer care.
* Work within the cancer management team.
* Coordinate initiatives to improve cancer services, using operational judgment.
* Act as deputy for the Lead Cancer Nurse as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: Registered Nurse with NMC registration; working towards or holding a Master's level qualification in a relevant subject.
Desirable: Teaching qualification; cancer nursing experience; leadership experience; understanding of national cancer standards; evidence of CPD; Band 7 experience in a cancer setting; experience in teaching patients and staff; research experience; prior management of cancer teams.
