About this job

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and adaptable individual to join our Corporate Parenting and Permanence team to work therapeutically with adolescents and young adults who are care experienced, with a focus on creatively supporting them to be ready to access education, employment and training opportunities and to sustain them. Sustaining such opportunities is a significant indicator of better outcomes in adulthood for young people who are likely to have had a range of adverse childhood experiences (ACES).

The post holder will need to have a passion for young people and strive to give our care leavers maximum support and opportunities in their transition into adulthood by supporting their emotional wellbeing and mental health and to work collaboratively with the Employment, Education and Training Co-ordinator for Care Leavers and the young people’s Social Workers or Leaving Care Advisors.

Special requirements for this post

A comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and carries a requirement to have an Enhanced DBS check for both children’s and adults.

About you

You will have direct experience of working therapeutically with young people on a wide range of issues and have a compassionate understanding of their needs where they have experienced trauma; loss or separation.

It would be desirable for you to have experience of supervising others as this role will require direct line management of an Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Worker for Care Leavers post 18.

You should have excellent written skills to provide reporting and analysis of data of the work undertaken and to evidence the impact of the work of the therapeutic roles for our young people.

Do you have what it takes to make a difference? Do you have the passion, tenacity, skills, knowledge and experience required to ensure that our care experienced young people have the best support in Barking and Dagenham? If yes, we would like to hear from you.

About us

LBBD aims to ensure the young person’s lived experience takes centre stage and that they are supported to be successful adults as they transition from our care. We need a committed individual to support us in the delivery of these aims and to become part of our team to make a difference to our children and families. In return we offer a competitive pay package, annual leave up to 30 days and clinical supervision. We support a model of flexible working, providing the necessary IT so staff can work from any location that meets the needs of the vulnerable people we support.

Our borough is vibrant and diverse, and this is something we are proud of. We value the diversity of people who live, work and visit Barking and Dagenham and it is our vision is to create a place where people understand, respect and celebrate each other’s differences.

Join our service and help us celebrate what it means to be a proud part of Barking and Dagenham.
