Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic Catering Supervisor. The post holder is responsible for supervising meal service to patients, staff, and visitors.

The candidate should demonstrate a passion for food and excellent customer care skills to deliver high standards of care with compassion to both patients and customers. Strong leadership skills are desirable.

Main duties of the job

* Ensure meals are produced to high standards, following food safety legislation and protocols; under the direction of the Assistant Catering Manager.
* Complete and manage paperwork related to service delivery. Support and assist the Assistant Catering Managers as required.

Detailed job responsibilities

* Organize the Kitchen and related areas
* Assign work to Catering Assistants
* Supervise food production and service, ensuring completion of monitoring forms
* Ensure meals meet recipe, quantity, quality, and appearance standards
* Forecast menu requirements based on data
* Review monitoring/audit forms for accuracy and remedial actions
* Adhere to Food Safety Legislation and local codes
* Follow procedures during major incidents to maintain meal service
* Assist in menu and recipe planning
* Contribute to food safety protocols, including Critical Control Points
* Understand and cater to therapeutic and cultural dietary needs
* Attend relevant meetings
* Manage paperwork supporting Trust operations

Person specification

Qualifications

* GCSE or equivalent (e.g., functional skills level 2)
* CIEH Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent
* City & Guilds 706/1/2 or equivalent
* CIEH Advanced Food Hygiene
* IOSH
* Supervisory Qualification

Experience

* Food production quality monitoring
* Large-scale catering experience
* Experience with cook-chill systems
* Supervisory experience, including acting roles

Skills

* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to prioritize tasks
* Experience with large-scale equipment
* Ability to work under pressure
* Computer literacy
* Customer care skills for diverse audiences

Knowledge

* Food safety and temperature controls
* Cook-chill processes
* Supervision importance
