The Role
Energy Markets (EM) is the commercial heart of the SSE Group, securing value for SSE's asset portfolios in wholesale energy markets as we move towards our vision of being a leading energy company in a net zero world. EM plays a critical role as the asset optimiser, route to market and risk management function for all SSE's Business Units (Wind, Hydro, Low Carbon Thermal, Distributed Energy and Customer portfolios). EM enables SSE to focus its expertise and capabilities in energy markets (including Trading, Risk Management, Energy Economics and Advanced Analytics) in one centre of excellence and, with these enhanced capabilities, support value creation and decision‑making across the SSE Group.
This role plays a key part in the development and support of EM cloud‑hosted systems as well as providing cloud expertise to the wider department IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Be part of an agile DevOps value stream responsible for implementation and run of Cloud Platform Services that support the SSE Energy Markets Business Unit.
* Be responsible for the release to production of native cloud solutions using CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, test automation and security scanning tools.
* Work with architects, security, and governance teams supporting architecture design/agile delivery.
* Build, deploy and manage cloud native solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
* Ability to independently develop, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure and applications.
* Significant experience of deployment of cloud native applications using Terraform, GitHub and Azure DevOps.
* Demonstrable experience of networking, identity management and security tooling.
* Excellent communication skills and knowledge of Agile & DevSecOps ways of working.
