An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to join the Cytology Department within Cellular Pathology at NNUH, based at the Cotman Centre.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Office team for Cervical Cytology related to the HPV Primary Screening Pathway in the East of England, supporting an effective, efficient, responsive, and empathetic service.
Cytology is a busy, time-sensitive laboratory with an annual workload of approximately 400,000 samples, working towards the National 14-day turnaround time target. We are one of 8 laboratories providing a lean clinical cervical cytology service to the East of England.
We seek a highly organized, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to join our team.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7). The interview date is 16th May 2025.
The Office team works closely and cohesively. You will need to be focused, motivated, helpful, supportive, and flexible, providing professional administrative support to the Cytology Department. The role also involves investigation work during certain tasks.
Responsibilities include:
1. Registration of request forms, including identifying out-of-programme samples within set guidelines and reporting rejections to the Laboratory Manager.
2. Investigation and recording of Colposcopy outcomes onto the LIMS, communicating with local and national hospitals via email.
3. Shared MDT preparation among 6 administrative staff.
4. Producing daily and weekly referrals to 18 hospitals, investigating anomalies, and ensuring referrals are sent to the correct Colposcopy Unit.
5. Handling a high volume of emails daily.
6. Proactively managing workload and adjusting as needed.
7. Handling Practice Nurse queries professionally and confidently, including maintaining a telephone log sheet.
