Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry within our Elderly Mental Health servicebased at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine.
Hours and Shift Pattern:
The post is advertised as 10 sessions, full time, although less than full time working is possible. The current post is worked over 9 sessions.
On call is required with non-resident 1 in 26 participation in the Consultant Psychiatrist rota (pro rata).
This post is offered on a permanent basis.
What you will do:
The post holder will provide community and inpatient care for patients from the following GP practices:
Largs Medical Group
Cumbrae Medical Practice
Wemyss Bay Medical Practice
Kilbirnie Health Centre
Dalry Medical Practice
Beith Heath Centre
Misty Law Medical Practice (Ayrshire Residents only)
The over 65 population is around 10,000.
Clinics are twice weekly, one in Ayrshire Central and in Largs (Brooksby).
The inpatients are in Ward 3 at Woodland View (organic assessment ward) and ward 4 (functional assessment ward). Total 15beds each in wards 3 and 4, with admitting rights from each of the three Health and Social Care partnerships (North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire). HBCCC patients are managed by other consultants in East Ayrshire and South Ayrshire.
The post holder will have an office at Ayrshire Central Hospital, a shared Medical Secretary for North Ayrshire Consultants. There will be support from a resident doctor, although this may be of different grades depending on current rotations and staffing allocations. The post holder will be expected to be an Approved Trainer and would act as a Clinical Supervisor for trainees
