Location: South East England, Berkshire, Windsor Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time Salary: £20 - £23 per hour Benefits: Holiday pay, Free on-site parking A well-established contract caterer in Windsor seeks an experienced Head Chef to support and manage the kitchen operation for an initial period of 8 to 12 weeks. There is potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. Job Duties Lead and manage kitchen operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Plan, prepare and present menus in line with customer requirements, seasonality and budget constraints. Supervise, train and develop kitchen team members to maintain high standards of food quality and hygiene. Manage stock levels and place orders to minimise waste and control costs. Ensure compliance with all food safety and allergen regulations and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Monitor kitchen equipment and liaise with maintenance teams to ensure all tools are in good working order. Maintain accurate records including temperature logs, stock usage and staff rotas. Work collaboratively with front-of-house teams and management to ensure seamless service delivery. Respond promptly to customer feedback and resolve any issues related to food quality or service. Required Qualifications Level 2 Food Safety Certificate. Level 3 Food Safety Certificate (preferable) Food Allergens training certification. Education Formal culinary qualifications or equivalent practical experience in a professional kitchen environment. Experience Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef within a busy catering environment. Demonstrable experience managing kitchen teams and overseeing daily operations. Experience in ordering and stock control to ensure cost efficiency. Knowledge and Skills Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Comprehensive understanding of food safety legislation and best practises. Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards during busy periods. Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and customers. Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation. Preferred Qualifications Higher-level culinary qualifications or relevant management training. Experience working within the travel, leisure, tourism or hospitality sectors. Working Conditions The role is based on site in Windsor with free parking available. Working hours are full-time Monday to Friday 07:00-15:30 with a 30 minute break. The kitchen environment involves exposure to heat, noise and standing for extended periods. The post requires adherence to health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
