Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cellular Therapy Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our cancer services team based at Royal Marsden Hospital Haemato-Oncology Unit.
You will use clinical expertise, leadership, and management skills to ensure coordination of the care of patients with a Haemato-oncology or oncology malignancy, providing a seamless service for patients and their families. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, which includes medical staff and prescribing pharmacists, you will develop a model of care to support, assess, and educate this group of patients. As a registered nurse with additional specialist knowledge and experience, you will have completed or demonstrated the ability to complete all relevant courses and competencies. You will aim to have the expert skills and competencies required to manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols, aligned with clinical governance. This role encompasses consultancy, teaching, management, and research activities. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and have substantial experience in cancer nursing.
Main duties of the job
* Assist in providing professional and clinical leadership and expertise in patient care, acting as a resource and consultant for patients, carers, and staff.
* Develop or contribute to policies for cellular therapy development.
* Create or contribute to patient information materials for cellular therapy.
* Coordinate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver a synchronized specialist service.
* Provide teaching for patients, staff, and carers, including academic courses related to CAR-T.

* Use advanced communication skills in patient assessment, care, and support.
* Act as a key worker for a clinical caseload, coordinating care and providing ongoing support.
* Discuss diagnosis and treatment options with patients, acting as an advocate and respecting confidentiality and cultural diversity.
* Influence care pathways and refer patients to other professionals and services as needed.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
* First degree in a related subject.
* Evidence of Masters-level learning or willingness to pursue it.
* Post-basic qualification in Haemato-Oncology or relevant area.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Willingness to undertake Trust CNS development program or demonstrate equivalent competencies.
* MSc in advanced cancer practice.
* Level 2 psychological skills training or working towards it.
* Advanced Communications Skills Training or working towards it.
* Recognised teaching qualification or working towards it.
Relevant Experience
* Post-registration experience at Band 6 or above in cancer or haematology.
* Experience with CAR-T delivery and stem cell transplant.
* Experience in teaching and clinical supervision.
* Experience of multiprofessional working and leadership.
* Experience of audit and research.
