Clinical Nurse Specialist – Macmillan Lymphoedema

We are recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Macmillan Lymphoedema who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Macmillan Lymphoedema CNS post holder is responsible for running their own nurse‑led clinics to treat patients with cancer‑related lymphoedema attending MVCC. The clinics will consist of review (face‑to‑face and phone) and treatment appointments.
In addition, you will receive a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job
* To undertake, under the guidance of the Macmillan Lymphoedema CNS (band 7), the treatment of patients within this specialist field who may have complex physical, psychological conditions and/or chronic presentation.
* Assist in coordinating individualized programmes of care.
* Ensure effective communication is always maintained, whilst providing training, supervision and clinical expertise to qualified or other staff.
* Work collaboratively to promote quality evidence‑based practice and contribute to the effective management of the service.
* Assess patients’ lymphoedema related problems, measure for compression garments, advise on self‑management, refer to other services and contact other MVCC teams or GPs as needed, plan and deliver intensive treatments for patients, discharging to community lymphoedema services or GP.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Training
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
* Certificate of Graduation from a recognised MLD course.
* Certificate of updating of original MLD course (no more than 2 years between certified updates).
Previous Experience
* Postgraduate clinical experience.
* Audit and standard setting.
* Experience working within other lymphoedema and or oncology specialist centres.
Skills
* Ability to pass on skills/knowledge to others within formal and informal environments.
* Contributes to the development of services and can work within a team to ensure service provision to specified clinical areas.
* Ability to cope working in a stressful environment, including the ability to impart information regarding poor prognosis and rehabilitation, dealing with emotional or aggressive patients and carers.
* Supervisory skills.
Knowledge
* Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of this area of clinical practice.
* Working knowledge of critical appraisal, audit and outcome measures.
* Knowledge of research.
* Competent IT skills.
* Active member of SIGS (Special Interest Group).

£39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata) plus 15% High Cost Area Supplement.
