Wigan NHS Talking Therapies Service is currently seeking a qualified CBT Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for someone with CBT experience who is looking to deliver high quality CBT and develop through regular supervision, CPD and a range of training opportunities to support career progression.
We are one of the national Talking Therapies services delivering cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based psychological interventions, through a stepped care treatment model to people in the community with common mental health problems.
The role will include delivering both face-to-face and remote appointments. We are a Stepped care service and work closely with other services in the Wigan borough.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities within the role include, but are not limited to:
* Formulate, deliver and evaluate evidence-based CBT interventions for clients presenting with a broad range of complex and enduring mental health difficulties, ensuring treatment is tailored, collaborative and outcome-focused.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, formulation and treatment of clients in line with service protocols, NICE guidance and professional standards.
* Contribute to the achievement of service KPIs and performance targets, including recovery rates, access standards, waiting times and clinical outcomes, using routine outcome measures to guide treatment and inform service improvement.
* Provide high-quality clinical supervision to colleagues delivering psychological interventions, including day-to-day supervision, skills development and adherence to evidence-based practice.
* Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with service policies, information-governance requirements and professional guidelines.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues and external partners, contributing to integrated care planning, risk management and stepped-care decision-making.
* Participate in service development and quality-improvement activity, offering clinical insight to pathway redesign, audit, evaluation and innovation projects.

Person Specification
Education
* Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma) OR Equivalent: e.g. a recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology or a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a psychological therapy - plus a further post graduate diploma qualification in CBT from a recognised or accredited training provider
* Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.
* Training in an additional therapeutic modality.
Experience
* Relevant experience in Primary Care settings treating anxiety and depression-related problems.
* Ability to meet agreed/specified activity and service targets.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time.
* Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the need for, and current limitations of, evidence-based psychological therapies.
* Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures and other relevant legislation.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
Skills & Abilities
* Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007).
* Well-developed communication skills to effectively communicate complex and sensitive information, both orally and in writing.
* Training in assessing risk and carrying out risk assessments within scope of expected practice.
* Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
* Accredited with a professional psychological therapy organisation.

£49,387 to £56,515 a year, pro rata
