About the role

We’re seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Associate or Partner to join our Romsey office, as we embark on an exciting phase of strategic growth in the commercial and corporate sector. This is a unique opportunity to help build our litigation presence in the South Coast region while being supported by the existing team. You will be motivated, driven to succeed and confident in developing work from a thriving commercial centre.

You will be providing high‑quality dispute resolution and litigation advice by pursuing, defending and resolving a wide range of commercial disputes for a variety of clients including sole traders, individuals, SMEs and large household names in the Hampshire region.

Day to day, you’ll have a varied caseload, including:

* Taking instructions from clients
* Conducting detailed investigations and analysis of factual and legal issues
* Formulating and advising clients on disputes, including providing advice on merits and strategy
* Preparing for and attending hearings, including advocacy where appropriate
* Communicating with the client, witnesses, other parties and the court
* Obtaining witness evidence, instructing counsel and experts and preparing written submissions, where appropriate
* Meeting procedural deadlines imposed by the Court, Ombudsman or other tribunal
* Advising on and engaging in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including mediation
* Providing advice and assistance to other members of the CDR team and the wider firm in relation to their matters
* Proactively participating in business development activities to support and drive our growth strategy

Whilst this role is based in Romsey, there will be the opportunity to work closely with other fee earners in different offices.

About you

We’re extremely proud of the relationship we’ve built with our clients and referrers, being recognised as their trusted legal partner. It’s important to us that you have the right blend of skills to service their needs and develop new relationships.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be:

* A qualified Solicitor, ideally with 4+ years PQE in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
* Experienced in drafting and advising on court proceedings, witness statements and contract issues
* Efficient in time‑management, organisation and planning with high attention to detail
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, colleagues and other contacts involved in proceedings
* Excellent analytical and legal research skills
* A collaborative team player, able to provide support and supervision to more junior lawyers

What's on offer

By joining Thrings you’ll become part of a supportive, inclusive firm offering a relaxed and trusting environment that allows balance between being in the office and working from home, including the valuable benefit of hybrid working.

In return for your hard work, you can expect to receive a variety of flexible benefits which can be tailored to your personal and family needs, including Private Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, Health cash plan and much more.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, gender, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
