Working with a key BakerHicks client in the chemical sector, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers working to deliver an exciting new batch of chemical production facilities.
The end client site is located in Europe, however, the design team are located in the UK, primarily in Manchester.
This contract position is full-time (initially 3 months, but with the potential to extend) and provides flexible working with a minimum of one day per week in our Salford Quays office.
The Project
The project is currently in the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) phase and focuses on batch chemical processing. It is a relatively small-scale project, and you will be working alongside one other process engineer to deliver the FEED package. This includes developing P&IDs, heat and mass balances, project schedules, and equipment datasheets.
As the Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for progressing the design from the existing concept through to detailed FEED deliverables.
You'll be supported by the broader BakerHicks process team, which includes a number of highly experienced engineers who can provide guidance and input as needed.
Key Purpose
* Develop process engineering deliverables to support the delivery of the FEED phase of the project
* Support others, including junior engineers and other design team members, in working towards common goals. This will involve, for instance, attending team meetings, providing input to the project programme, and answering technical queries.
Responsibilities
* Produce design deliverables (including calculations, specifications, and reports), site surveys, construction stage duties, client liaison with members of design/construction teams, costing and ensure progress against the project brief
* Check deliverables produced by colleagues to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements.
* Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the design team
* Contribute to the preparation of enquiry plans, fee estimate sheets, scopes of work and change controls as required.
Requirements
* Relevant degree in Chemical Engineering
* Demonstrable experience of design and engineering in the chemical sector and/or related sectors
* Experience in developing Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID's, equipment datasheets and specifications
* Experience in standard process engineering calculations, including pressure drop/pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat transfer, and heat & mass balance calculations
