Location: Downpatrick Pay: £16.83 per hour Type: Full-time | Temporary Access NI Check: Basic required What the Job’s About As an Enforcement Officer, you’ll help keep our local communities clean, safe, and welcoming. You’ll patrol public spaces, deal with issues like littering, noise complaints, and dog fouling, and work with other organisations like the PSNI. You’ll also issue fines, attend court when needed, and support public education campaigns. Main Duties Patrol the Area Walk around town centres and public spaces to look for anti-social behaviour or environmental offences. Join night-time patrols with PSNI where needed. ⚖️ Enforce Local Laws Deal with things like littering, street trading, noise, dog fouling, and illegal dumping. Issue fixed penalty notices and take further action when necessary. Investigate and Report Gather evidence, take witness statements, interview offenders under caution (PACE), and attend court. Maintain clear records and write reports. Handle Complaints Respond to reports from the public, other agencies, or community groups. Make appropriate referrals and keep people updated. Keep Records and Stats Log incidents, prepare reports, and help with data and statistics as required. Engage with the Community Work closely with residents, businesses, and community groups. Attend meetings and promote awareness through events and campaigns. Work in Partnership Collaborate with the PSNI, Housing Executive, and other Council departments to tackle local issues. ✅ What You’ll Need Confidence working in public, including dealing with conflict calmly and professionally. Strong communication and teamworking skills. Ability to write reports, follow procedures, and handle evidence.
