Health and Safety Officer

This would ideally suit someone with experience with a manufacturing or engineering environment although other relevant sectors would be considered

Day-to-day of the role:
1. Conduct regular COSHH assessments and risk assessments with Team Leaders to identify hazards and recommend mitigation measures.
2. Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Engage employees and management in proactive safety initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
4. Stay updated with changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
5. Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors for inspections and compliance checks.
6. Assist in emergency preparedness planning and conduct regular safety drills.
7. Oversee safety training programs, ensuring employees are aware of best practices.
8. Provide guidance on health and safety training needs and assist in sourcing reputable training providers.
9. Conduct site inductions for new starters and workplace inspections.
10. Play an active role in the investigation of workplace incidents, preparing reports, and recommending corrective actions.
11. Support line managers in implementing corrective measures and follow-ups after incidents.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
12. NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent health and safety qualification.
13. Proven experience in a health and safety role ideally within manufacturing.
14. Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
15. Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.
16. Excellent communication and training skills.
17. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
18. Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
