Role Purpose
The Wireman / Wirewoman is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing (where required) of electrical and electronic assemblies to defined standards, drawings, and work instructions. The role supports the delivery of high-quality products in line with customer requirements, production schedules, and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out wiring, crimping, soldering, looming, and cable assembly to engineering drawings and specifications
* Assemble electro-mechanical products and sub-assemblies in line with work instructions
* Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and build documentation
* Ensure work is completed to IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610 / IPC-620 where applicable)
* Perform basic inspection and self-checking to ensure right-first-time build quality
* Record build data accurately using company systems and documentation
* Support testing activities where required
* Maintain high standards of workmanship, ESD control, and housekeeping (5S)
* Identify build issues and escalate technical or quality concerns promptly
* Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and process improvements
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electro-mechanical assembly
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
* Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
* Understanding of quality standards and right-first-time principles
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-620 certification
* Experience within electronics manufacturing / EMS environment
* Experience with crimp tools, looms, harness builds, and testing equipment
* Familiarity with ESD requirements and controlled environments
