Job summary
Are you passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities (LD) and committed to improving their quality of life? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Kirklees Community Learning Disabilities Health Team. This is a full-time post and would be suited for a newly qualified or experienced physiotherapist wanting a new challenge. Our well-established team covers the whole Kirklees area and comprises a multidisciplinary group including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, learning disability nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, speech & language therapists, dietitian and healthcare support staff. The team delivers therapeutic assessment and treatment and supports adults with LD and their families/carers. The Trust is committed to staff development and in-house training, and there is a Trust-wide Physio Forum offering support and CPD opportunities. All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.

Main duties of the job
You will be a highly motivated and conscientious individual who desires to work creatively with people with learning disabilities within the community. The role requires using specialist physiotherapy skills to assess and deliver high-quality therapeutic interventions, with effective MDT working and close liaison with other agencies. You will manage a community caseload, including training of family carers and paid carers, evaluate treatment outcomes and contribute to service development. You will work as part of a physiotherapy team within the wider MDT and receive supervision.

Responsibilities
* Provide specialist physiotherapy to adults and older people with mental health problems, within a community setting.
* Support the therapy team and contribute to service development and professional development.
* Assess, formulate goals, implement treatment and evaluate outcomes with service users and families/carers.
* Manage a defined caseload, enabling activity participation and independence in the community; train family and paid carers in different settings.
* Maintain clinical records in accordance with risk management guidelines and attend relevant meetings; provide reports and data as required.
* Participate in monthly clinical supervision and provide supervision to other staff and support workers.
Qualifications and requirements
* BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent GradDipPhys; HCPC Registration (essential).
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (desirable).
* Full driving licence and access to a car during working day (desirable; reasonable adjustments considered for disability).
Training and experience
* Portfolio evidence of information learning; comprehensive pre-graduate clinical experience/training (essential).
* Experience in Mental Health or PLD (essential); experience with the general public (desirable).
* Desirable: Physiotherapy in Mental Health/PLD.
