Overview
We are seeking to recruit 2x education wellbeing practitioners to join the Tower Hamlets Education Wellbeing Service (THEWS).
THEWS is a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) established following the government Green Paper: Transforming Children & Young People’s Mental Health Provision. The service has undergone recent expansion. For further information about our service please see our website: https://www.elft.nhs.uk/thews
The three core functions of a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are: deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) with mild-to-moderate mental health problems; support the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, develop and deliver the whole school/college approach; and give timely advice to school and college staff, liaising with external specialist services, to help CYP to get the right support and stay in education.
THEWS is part of the Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based in Whitechapel, East London.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and assess outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild-to-moderate mental health problems, and their families, parents and carers.
* Support the senior mental health lead to introduce or develop the whole school/college approach.
* Liaise with supervisors to agree appropriate signposting and referrals for children and young people.
* Operate within a hybrid clinical working model of direct face-to-face and remote work as appropriate.
About the Organisation
The East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) provides a wide range of community and inpatient services to children and young people, adults of working age, older adults and forensic services to the City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. In Tower Hamlets the Trust provides high standard mental health services for children and young people based on strong partnerships with the Borough’s education and social care services, community health services and voluntary/third sector agencies.
