This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of archaeological fieldwork and post‑excavation projects, contributing to Cura Terrae’s Land & Nature division across a diverse portfolio of projects.

The Role

As a Project Officer, you will support Directors and Project Managers in the delivery of tenders, fieldwork programmes, post‑excavation work, and project deadlines. You will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of archaeological site works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

You will also represent Cura Terrae professionally when engaging with clients, local authorities, subcontractors, stakeholders, and members of the public, while supporting the development of junior colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities Include

* Ensuring all work meets Cura Terrae policies and procedures, legal compliance requirements, and professional standards
* Monitoring project progress against milestones, budgets, and deliverables
* Preparing and approving risk assessments prior to site activities and promoting a strong health and safety culture
* Coordinating subcontractors and supporting resource planning
* Producing archaeological reports, post‑excavation assessments, analysis, and archiving
* Preparing pre‑commencement documentation, including Written Schemes of Investigation (WSIs)
* Supervising archaeological teams across small, medium, and large‑scale projects
* Deputising for Project Managers where required
* Delivering public lectures, outreach events, and stakeholder engagement activities
* Transporting teams to site using company pool or hired vehicles
* Supporting business development and wider operational activities within the Land & Nature division

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, collaborative, and passionate about delivering high‑quality archaeological work. The ideal candidate will have:

* A university degree in Archaeology or a related discipline
* Accreditation at Associate level or above with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (ACIfA–MCIfA), or working towards this
* Strong experience in archaeological fieldwork and post‑excavation, including reporting, assessment, analysis, and archiving
* Experience independently preparing WSIs and other project documentation
* Proven ability to supervise archaeological field teams and manage day‑to‑day site operations
* Strong organisational and commercial awareness, with the ability to deliver projects to programme and budget
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and transport teams to site
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A flexible, professional, and team‑focused approach to work
* Commitment to maintaining professional development, training, and industry standards

What You’ll Get

* Competitive salary and benefits package
* Flexible working options
* Career development, mentoring, and progression opportunities
* Supportive and collaborative working culture
* Access to modern tools, equipment, and resources
* Opportunity to contribute to meaningful, nature‑positive projects
