About The Role
As a SENDIASS Support Officer you will provide casework support to families through the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS). This is a free, confidential, and impartial service for parents and carers, and children and young people up to 25 years old. A key part of the role is to respond to initial enquiries, providing impartial and accessible advice and support on SEND law and processes.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
The SENDIASS team supports statutory responsibilities under the Children and Families Act (2014). It is a legal requirement for Local Authorities to have SENDIASS. The role is busy, important and challenging, and suits those keen to make a direct difference working with a diverse range of stakeholders—principally young people, their parents and carers, schools and local authority services.
About You

* A people person who can effectively communicate key messages in writing and verbally with diverse audiences including young people, parents, schools and professionals.
* Work with parents, children and young people in a non-judgemental and anti-discriminatory way; ensure equality of access regardless of ethnic origin, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or social background.
* Provide information, advice and support regarding SEND matters (and health and social care) to parents and young people, following the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and relevant legislation.

* Promote the voice of the child/young person throughout work with families.

Enhanced Children Barred DBS check is required.
