THE ROLE
As an Assistant Designer, you will be working closely with the Senior Designer on ASOS DESIGN, working on ALL THINGS DENIM, supporting to design multi product, creating head to toe ranges in denim, candidate has an opportunity to thrive with a high energy team, there is a lot of opportunity to grow a sort after skill set and learn about laundry processes. The role is on a very exciting department, we are looking for someone who loves fashion and has an endless enthusiasm for delivering new ideas! We need someone who wants to be part of a fast-paced fashion forward design team this could be the opportunity for you.

The Design Team look for inspiration all around the world, along with street style, vintage shopping, music, art, the catwalk and all things creative, to design the latest product for the range. It’s all about newness and finding and designing the most exciting product for our 20-something customer, whatever their style.
You’ll be…
1. Researching, developing, and designing ranges for ASOS DESIGN DENIM, it’s a fantastic opportunity working across multi product, including identifying key leg shapes for the season, as well as outwear shapes, skirts, tops, jumpsuits, dresses and shorts, researching key washes for the season ahead of time and predicting the newest colours, sourcing fabric and building a range which offers choice for our global customer base.
2. Reacting to sales information and design commercially relevant fashion forward ranges.
3. Researching current and future trends by a collection of different sources to identify newness and interpret into first to market pieces.
4. Working with the technical team on initial fits. Identifying and helping problem solve for the department.
5. Building relations with suppliers and advising factories on direction, construction, key details, materials, and trims.
6. Adhering to the critical path to achieve deadlines, ensuring product is developed for the relevant and optimum selling period.
7. An ability to research and develop unique product working on long lead time product as well as quick reaction short lead ranges.
Qualifications
Who We’d Like to Meet...
8. Previous experience in designing for an Aspirational Brand or similar High Street Retailer.
9. Previous experience of working with Far East, European and UK suppliers
10. Experience in working with a Buyer to plan and deliver a balanced range and first to market pieces
11. Strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the ASOS Brand and Customer
12. Computer Skills: Photoshop, Adobe, CAD
13. Experience with executing tech packs and sketches for developments via supplier
14. A fashion forward perspective
15. Strong time management
16. The confidence to identify problems and makes improvement suggestions, seeking practical ways to overcome barriers and remaining calm under pressure
17. The ability to communicate to the team & senior management the performance and strategy of the department
18. Willingness to travel in the UK and Internationally as required, for supplier meetings and inspiration / development trips
