I am delighted to welcome you to Chipping Campden School. As Principal, it is my privilege to lead this outstanding school and I extend a very warm welcome to students, parents and our friends in the local community and beyond.
Our school is indeed a very special place – unlike any other. The culture and ethos that has been grown since the school's formation in 1440, enables students to feel empowered in their learning and inspired to excel.
Students are encouraged to pursue ambitious goals, both in terms of their academic studies, but also in their wider interests. Whilst our school has a history of supporting students to achieve excellent examination results in Year 11 and Year 13, we are also very proud of the emphasis that is placed on all students being happy, motivated and engaged in their learning. Student behaviour at our school is exceptional. Our committed team of adults make it their business to encourage our students to be curious about the world they live in and to consider how they can contribute to shaping their future society; locally and globally.
We are unashamedly ambitious for all our students and seek to enable them to develop high aspirations and chase goals that perhaps at first, may seem a little daunting. It is only when we relentlessly pursue these high aspirations and settle for nothing less than our very best, do we enable our students to leave our school being able to successfully compete with their global counterparts, in whatever they choose to do at the end of, what for most, will be a seven-year partnership with us. Students and their families have our support every step of the way, and I firmly believe that the care and guidance that is provided through our extensive pastoral support system is second to none.
There are approximately 1500 students in School, including 350 in the Sixth Form. Every student is treated as an individual while being developed into an active and positive member of the school community and a global citizen. The school offers a very wide range of extra-curricular activities including sport, music and drama and standards here are also very high. There are always opportunities for students to contribute to the wider life of the school through Student Leadership, peer mentoring and charitable fundraising, for example.
When you take a walk around our school and step into lessons, it is impossible not to feel a palpable buzz of excitement. There are so many opportunities for students to flourish, whether that be representing our school on the sports field, performing on stage in our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre, leading one of our Student Parliament Ministries or completing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award; our offering of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities is enormous.
We have a very stable staff of well-qualified and talented professionals, united in our desire to ensure that all students reach their potential. We work collaboratively with parents, partner schools and colleges and external agencies to support individual students in this. There is a well established provision of staff development and regular meetings allowing opportunities to communicate, share good practice and challenge and ensure all are secure in the part they play in the success of the school. We are a partner in the Balcarras/Odyssey Teaching School Partnership, GITEP, Gloucestershire's leading provider of Initial Teacher Training. We have an excellent mentoring programme, where you will be guided from lesson observation, to paired teaching, to going solo
We are very fortunate to be located in such an outstandingly attractive town in the Cotswolds. As such, you can enjoy living/working in such an area that is only a short journey from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Evesham. Moreton-in-Marsh and Honeybourne have a main-line stations with direct links to Oxford and London.
Thank you for taking the time to consider joining our incredible team of staff at our wonderful school.
