Junior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Department

We are recruiting for junior clinical fellows for a fixed 12‑month period from August 2026 to August 2027. Preference is given to graduates who commit for the full year.
Main Duties of the Job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
* Full clinical duties on the SHO rota.
* Responsible for all clinical aspects of Emergency work.
* 24/7 Consultant presence at RSCH ED and 0800‑2230 at PRH ED with overnight support from an ED SpR on site at PRH.
* Maximum 1-in‑3 weekends and 1-in‑5 nights.
* Attendance in weekly 2‑hour teaching sessions.
* Evidence of output for the 25% non‑clinical project time.
* Occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances as requested by the appropriate consultant.
Person Specification
Experience / Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
* Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
* Higher Degree.
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Completion of FY2 training.
* Evidence of independent development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
Organisation and Planning
* Understanding of NHS, clinical governance and resource constraints.
* Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams.
* Evidence of managerial skills: achievements or courses attended.
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching.
* Recognised teaching qualification.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a DBS check.

Royal Sussex County Hospital / Princess Royal Hospital.
Salary
£38,831 – £73,992 per annum (pro‑rata).
Contract and Working Pattern
Fixed term, 12 months, full‑time or part‑time.
