Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year Requirements: Degree level qualification in relevant engineering discipline or other numerate subject or equivalent experience Demonstrable experience of Network Communication Systems and Architectures, especially LAN/WAN architectures and network security in a safety-related environment Established knowledge of the systems engineering life-cycle Demonstrable experience of working to industry quality and safety standards Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate technical solutions at all levels Able to work to tight timescales Cisco certified, or at working level, to CCNA or above with extensive applicable experience Chartered engineer (desirable) IRSE License (desirable) Experience in at least one of the following technologies: Software Defined Networking, virtualization, data centre, network automation (desirable) Experience in UK railway operational telecoms design, standards and delivery processes (desirable) Demonstrable knowledge of railway systems (desirable) Responsibilities: Develop network designs for various projects, customizing approved template architectures Focus on project-specific connectivity and cybersecurity requirements Build and maintain strong communication links with telecom specialists and project delivery teams Participate in achieving maximum output for outline and detailed network designs Manage cost, time, and quality performance of allocated project activities Assist in generation, production, testing, and validation activities Deliver High-Level Network Designs and Function Design Specifications Create network architecture diagrams and IP Addressing/Subnetting designs Produce cable schematics and diversity plans Execute factory acceptance testing and onsite build and testing Conduct integration and system testing Monitor work package progress, ensuring design timescales are met Maintain technical and safety standards in all design work Evaluate tenders for quality and technical accuracy, making recommendations as necessary Ensure safety responsibilities in line with Health and Safety legislation and company procedures Check network designs/configurations against established standards Technologies: Architect Cisco LAN Network Security Hardware More: We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Network Comms Architect to join our Rail Infrastructure CIS business.
