Location: Bucksburn Academy, Kepplehills Road, Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30, and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31, per annum / £17.31 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

Support the delivery of high quality learning and teaching activities for children aged 3-18 with complex additional needs. Work as part of a dynamic staff team, and alongside parents and professionals, to develop and execute plans that improve outcomes for children.

Ensure that classroom support staff understand daily plans and routines.

Required to work in the ASN Wing at Bucksburn Academy

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

1. HNC Early Education and Childcare /S/NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care and Development NNEB or equivalent
2. Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC
3. PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

4. Observing practice and providing feedback and support
5. Listening to feedback and using this to improve outcomes
6. Having strong communication skills including non verbal, verbal and written communication
7. Demonstrating responsiveness to ongoing changes and challenges
8. Using Microsoft packages, including MS Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook.
9. Working under pressure and at pace
10. Solving complex problems
11. Motivating and relating to children
