Key Functions of the Role Operational Systems Support Respond to inbound technical queries and system faults, ensuring issues are triaged, investigated, and resolved with precision. Manage support requests through to closure, offering clear updates and technical guidance to clients. Use structured troubleshooting techniques to isolate issues and provide immediate fixes or escalate where appropriate. Participate in after-hours cover where necessary to support global infrastructure operations. Remote Configuration & Deployment Conduct remote rollouts and configuration of client systems, ensuring all technical parameters meet operational standards. Work closely with delivery engineers to ensure installations are executed effectively, with minimal disruption to client environments. Monitor and tune systems remotely, using diagnostic tools to anticipate potential performance bottlenecks or recurring faults. Technical Governance & Process Optimisation Produce and update internal user guides and configuration records to support wider team efficiency. Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance ticketing workflows, documentation standards, and knowledge-sharing practices. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks or streamline existing procedures for a more agile service model. Essential Skills & Experience Minimum of 3 years' experience in a client-facing support or infrastructure operations role. Solid understanding of enterprise IT systems, including network protocols and distributed environments. Confident working across multiple operating systems, particularly Windows and Linux. Hands-on experience with remote support technologies and virtualisation tools such as Hyper-V or VMware. Strong SQL knowledge for data extraction, query optimisation, or log inspection. Comfortable navigating directory services, firewalls, and core security frameworks. Personal Attributes Intellectually curious and capable of navigating technical ambiguity. Clear communicator with the ability to distil complex problems into simple explanations. Methodical and calm under pressure, particularly in live client-facing situations.
