Salary: £27,204 rising to £29,859 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension

About the role:
The Central Safeguarding Team Researcher is a vital role ensuring that relevant Police information is shared with our partners to enable timely and effective safeguarding to take place. Previous safeguarding experience is not necessary as full training will be provided. The principal responsibility of the role is to research police databases, to gather relevant information and to share this information with our statutory partners to enable multi-agency decision making and response, where concerns about the welfare of children or vulnerable adults have been identified. You will work alongside Police Officers in a multidisciplinary environment and join a large virtual team of around 30 researchers based at one of our offices in Torquay, Exeter (Hawkins House, but relocation to Police HQ, Middlemoor this year) or Launceston Police Station and although you will be required to be at the Police Station whilst undergoing training - once trained some home working is afforded subject to local management agreement. We also welcome applications from part time workers.
As a guide specific core tasks include:
* Undertaking a secondary risk assessment and review of Public Protection Notices recorded by front line officers – as a team we process about 45,000 of these per year
* Processing referrals from partner agencies about Child Protection or Adults at risk of abuse or neglect concerns
* Compiling reports for multi-agency safeguarding meetings
* Researching police systems for relevant information in relation to Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme and Child Sexual Offence Disclosure Scheme applications
* Enabling the Operation Encompass Domestic violence early notification system to schools to function.
