Building Refurbishment and Fit Out is a role based in Sheffield S35 (office based). Salary is between £55k and £65k plus a car/allowance, mobile phone allowance, and pension option.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
About the Company
A regional main contractor based in South Yorkshire is recruiting an experienced Estimator for building refurbishment projects, fit out, and design & build covering Retail, Industrial, Commercial, and Education sectors. Projects range from £100k to £3m. The contractor has a long‑established national reputation with a turnover of £5m in the region.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a professional estimator with proven experience in the construction environment.
This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to report professional opinions to estimating team members, and strong knowledge of building estimating.
Estimator Responsibilities
* Deliver estimates on time.
* Take off all materials from client drawings.
* Process net cost estimates in their entirety.
* Assess net cost estimates for risk and opportunity in conjunction with CM/QS where appropriate.
* Lead pre‑start meetings with explanations as necessary on specific work items relating to the project.
* Send out sub‑contract packages for quotations and screen on return.
* Send out enquiries for materials.
* Provide full labour, plant and materials breakdown at post‑contract stage.
* Read, interpret and fully understand and conform to all tender documentation and requirements.
* Attend and contribute to presentations and interviews.
* Take off quantities for traditional and Design & Build tenders.
* Produce cost advice including cost plans and basic estimates.
Desired Experience
Ideal candidates are currently working in a similar role for a main contractor, with at least 8 years of experience on building refurbishment projects.
This role is suitable for a senior estimator looking for the opportunity to join an established contractor that is still growing.
