A Day in the Life of a Police Officer
As a police officer, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives. Your typical day may involve:
* Patrolling designated areas in a marked police vehicle or on foot
* Responding to emergency calls, such as reported crimes or accidents
* Engaging with the community through outreach programmes and neighbourhood policing initiatives
* Collaborating with colleagues to solve complex cases and bring offenders to justice
You will also have the opportunity to specialise in a particular area, such as traffic policing, cybercrime, or public order.
Becoming a Police Officer
We offer two routes into the police service: the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP).
The PCDA is a three-year programme that combines academic study with practical policing experience. You will earn a degree in professional policing practice while working as a police officer.
The PCEP is a two-year programme that provides new recruits with a blend of classroom-based and operational learning. You will gain a broad understanding of policing principles and practices while developing the skills and knowledge required to become a successful police officer.
