Occupational Therapist - Neurosurgery and Critical Care
The candidate will perform a Specialist Occupational Therapist role to provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy Service to patients referred within Neurosurgery and Critical Care, requiring multidisciplinary input. This includes carrying out functional and cognitive assessments.
They will be part of an interdependent multidisciplinary team, ensuring that Occupational Therapy input is an integral part of the patient’s overall care and discharge planning. There may be a requirement to deputise for the Team Leader when necessary, and the role will involve working across six days (one Saturday in four).
Responsibilities
* Identify patients that require OT input on Neurosurgery and Critical Care
* Create and implement appropriate treatment plans
* Support the team and wider MDT
* Identify and treat cognitive impairment
* Provide education to colleagues on the OT role
* Advocate for patients
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified Occupational Therapist
* Experience in neurosurgery and critical care settings (preferred)
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and deputise as needed
* Strong assessment, clinical governance, supervision and teaching abilities
