LOCATION: OH, WV, PA
JOB PURPOSE
The Earthwork Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. This position provides on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor. Essential qualities include organization, good judgment, effective communication, and technical knowledge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Promote safety, quality, efficiency, and core values
* Assist in estimating production rates, manpower, and equipment needs during bidding
* Develop, refine, and update the project schedule
* Thorough understanding of contract drawings and specifications
* Manage project costs and company assets
* Create and maintain project documentation
* Coordinate project operations, including subcontractors and vendors
* Ensure compliance with all regulations
* Provide leadership and foster effective relationships with on-site staff
* Develop daily crew lists and manage field activities to meet project deadlines
* Lead weekly foreman meetings
* Develop a two-week forecast to identify and resolve potential issues proactively
* Maintain regulatory compliance
* Interface effectively with project owners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Experience
* At least five years of supervising earthwork projects with increasing responsibility
* At least five years of mass excavation/heavy civil site development experience
Requirements/Competencies
* Ability to meet deadlines and drive projects to completion
* Multitasking on complex projects
* Proficiency in reading construction drawings and specifications
* Ability to interpret mass excavation diagrams and plan earthmoving operations efficiently
* Leadership and decision-making skills with integrity
* Experience working with subcontractors and vendors
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail
* Proactive, self-motivated problem solver
* Willingness to travel and work remotely as needed
* Ability to develop project schedules and understand project costs
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Valid Driver’s License required.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a full-time role, typically 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required for time-sensitive issues and project needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily outdoor work under various weather conditions, involving travel and possible overnight stays. Administrative tasks are performed in office settings, either in a non-smoking office or field office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees must be able to:
* Sit or stand for prolonged periods
* Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
* Bend, twist, squat, kneel occasionally
* Walk on uneven terrain at construction sites
* Work in diverse weather conditions
