Job Overview
Orion Group is working with a successful Construction & Infrastructure client at the forefront of delivering a 400kv HVDC Converter Station in Peterhead, to source a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager on a full‑time staff basis. As the HSW Manager, you will support the safe delivery of the work at Netherton and will liaise directly with the client in the strategic delivery of the overall ASTI framework of projects.
Responsibilities
* Manage day‑to‑day Health and Safety resources to support Operations and implement the Health and Safety Policy and standards across all business units in your area of responsibility.
* Manage resource allocation and deployment of competent HS&E delivery resources across your area of responsibility, ensuring resource utilisation data is collected and made available to implement a risk‑based support schedule.
* Support work‑winning and bid support for the operational teams, where required.
* Manage the programme of inspection and audit to provide assurance that all business units continue to comply with company requirements.
* Fulfil HSW, customer and business incident reporting and performance requirements (7‑Day Report, KPIs) and act as incident lead if required.
* In collaboration with Project Director/Head of Operations Directors, carry out project and business sector HSW performance reviews using lagging and leading indicators.
* Support the Operations/Project Director with contract/project‑level SHELTs to drive and deliver HSW improvement plans.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of developments in Health and Safety.
Qualifications
* Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards).
* NVQ Level 4/5 (or equivalent qualification/experience).
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate / Diploma.
* Detailed, technical knowledge and experience of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
* Construction industry experience (or in a comparable sector) and, in particular, CDM experience.
* Prior experience providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams.
* Commitment to be on site five days a week.
