Total hours per week: 37.5 Expected duration 36 Months Possible start date 16 Sep 2024 Date posted 18 Apr 2024 Apprenticeship level Advanced Level 3 (A level) Reference number VAC1000244748 Positions 1 available What you will do in your working day Alongside our experienced engineers and construction professionals, and with the appropriate support and guidance, you will: Attend AMRC classes to study towards a Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship, whilst acquiring new skills in the workplace through on the job training Learn both the theory, and practical application of MAG, MMA & Sub-Arc welding processes on carbon steel, as well as gain an appreciation of other welding processes and materials Develop skills and competence in manufacturing processes from technical drawing to completion Deal with ancillary plant items from a manufacturing and repair perspective Operate tools and other equipment involved in the engineering and manufacturing process, from drawing to completion Promote new ideas concerning engineering / manufacturing innovations and the development of appropriate engineering solution Attend any additional training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set required for the role The training you will be getting You will study on a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Standard. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3. During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
