3 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Worcestershire Children First is seeking experienced Children’s Social Workers to join its Locality Safeguarding Teams within Worcestershire County Council.
• The successful candidates will manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings, working with families from initial safeguarding concerns through to case closure or achieving permanence for looked-after children.
• The role involves assessment, planning, and intervention to safeguard children while promoting family resilience and positive outcomes.
• Social workers will work collaboratively within a supportive team environment, with flexible hybrid working arrangements across Worcester and Pershore offices.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Manage a caseload of children and families within locality safeguarding teams.
• Undertake statutory assessments and safeguarding interventions in line with legislation and local authority procedures.
• Work with children subject to Child Protection Plans, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings.
• Prepare and present reports for court proceedings where required.
• Develop and implement care plans to support children and families, ensuring the child’s wishes and feelings are central to decision-making.
• Work towards achieving permanence outcomes for children, including reunification, long-term care, or other permanency arrangements.
• Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings including child protection conferences and core groups.
• Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
• Liaise with internal teams and external partner agencies including health services, schools, police, and voluntary organisations.
• Undertake day duty responsibilities where required and respond to safeguarding concerns.
• Participate in professional supervision, training, and continuous professional development activities.
Skills/Experience:
• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience working within children’s safeguarding or locality social work teams.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory guidance.
• Experience managing cases involving Child Protection Plans, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings.
• Ability to complete high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
• Strong understanding of permanence planning and outcomes for looked-after children.
• Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and complex caseloads effectively.
Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• Location: Worcester / Pershore Civic Centre, Worcestershire.
• Working Pattern: Hybrid working – typically 1–2 days per week in the office.
• Hours: 37 hours per week.
• The role requires an Enhanced DBS check due to regulated activity with children.
