As a forward thinking Information Governance and Risk Manager, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary service ensuring statutory compliance and strong risk and business continuity oversight across Adults’ Health & Care and Children’s Services. You’ll manage teams covering Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Data Protection, Information Governance, Records Management and Risk/Business Continuity, while playing a key role in the extended senior management team. You’ll work closely with Directorate Management Teams and the corporate centre, providing vital support as the directorates navigate Local Government Reorganisation. What you’ll do: Lead on Information Governance compliance - Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIAs), data sharing, data incident investigation, SARs, FOIs, records management, DSP Toolkit and related statutory returns. Have oversight of Directorate-wide Risk and Business Continuity including relevant corporate risks, service risk assurance, 90 Business Continuity Plans and scenario testing using the Meridian business continuity system. Drive data quality and governance improvements in social care record systems, working closely with stakeholders and corporate groups. What we’re looking for: A collaborative leader with management experience in Information Governance, within public sector or regulated environments. Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks including GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI Act and Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) requirements. A solid understanding of risk management, assurance processes and business continuity. Awareness of key health and social care legislation. Understanding of how legal duties shape data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding, ensuring compliant and effective service delivery. A pragmatic problem solver with excellent stakeholder management skills. Ability to work constructively across a wide range of services and professional groups.
