Job Description:
HW Finance is delighted to be partnering with an investor-backed business to appoint a new Finance Controller.
The Finance Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the financial functions of this high-growth, investor-backed business. Reporting to the CFO, you will manage daily financial operations, deliver high-quality insights, and contribute to strategic initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and support the company's expansion.
You will be responsible for key aspects of financial reporting, including statutory and regulatory compliance. Leading a small team, you will drive process improvements and collaborate with senior leadership to ensure financial sustainability and business performance.
Regular travel to London may be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and deliver accurate management and financial reports, including balance sheets, cash flow statements, and reconciliations for review by the CFO.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including SOX.
* Lead budgeting and forecasting, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.
* Manage working capital and cash flow, supporting growth plans and operational needs. Reconcile all bank accounts as required.
* Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to support financial objectives, cost control, and profitability.
* Provide financial analysis to support commercial decisions and manage investor relationships.
* Improve financial processes and controls to support business growth, implementing or enhancing systems as needed.
* Work with the CFO to develop the financial control framework.
* Lead year-end reporting, ensuring high-quality financial statements and regulatory reports.
* Coordinate with external auditors, manage the year-end audit, and prepare necessary documentation.
* Review and authorize payroll, ensuring timely payments of PAYE/NI, pensions, and attachments.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a highly commercial, detail-oriented financial leader experienced in fast-paced, growth-driven environments. You should have strong technical skills in financial management, SOX compliance, and internal controls, with the ability to contribute to business strategy.
Building strong relationships with senior leadership and operational teams is essential. You should be a hands-on leader, capable of driving financial performance and empowering your team. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and entrepreneurial spirit are important to support growth while maintaining strong financial governance.
Required skills and experience include:
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-growth or private equity-backed environment.
* Knowledge of SOX compliance, statutory reporting, internal controls, and working with external auditors.
* Experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and operations within a high-growth or startup environment.
* Strong commercial insight and ability to align financial strategies with business goals.
