Senior Project Engineer

If you’re stuck managing spreadsheets and status updates instead of real engineering projects, this role will feel different.
This business develops high-spec inspection and sensing technology used in extreme environments.
They need a Senior Project Engineer to help drive multidisciplinary development projects from concept through to manufacture and deployment.
You’ll sit between electronics, software, mechanical, production, and operations teams. The job is less about reporting for the sake of it and more about keeping technically complex projects moving properly.
The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and genuinely varied. Small team. High visibility. Plenty of moving parts.
What you’ll actually be doing:
* Leading engineering projects through development, testing, manufacture, and delivery
* Coordinating technical teams across multiple disciplines
* Managing plans, timelines, risks, budgets, and priorities
* Supporting prototype builds, validation activity, and product launches
* Running project reviews and stakeholder updates
* Working closely with engineers to solve problems before they become delays
What they’re looking for:
* Experience managing engineering or technical development projects
* Ability to work across multidisciplinary technical teams
* Good understanding of engineering development and manufacturing environments
* Someone organised, calm under pressure, and comfortable taking ownership
* Backgrounds from oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, instrumentation, or similar technical sectors will fit well
You do not need to be overly corporate or process-heavy to succeed here. This will suit someone practical who enjoys technical environments and likes being close to engineering teams rather than sitting above them.
The role is based in Norwich.
