Job Description
New Directions Education is recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Pontypool and the surrounding areas. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task while completing pre-set work.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with leadership, supervisory, or management experience who are looking to transfer their skills into an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the classroom teacher.
2. Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions.
3. Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
4. Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies.
5. Ensure students remain engaged and complete assigned work.
6. Report any concerns or incidents to school staff.
Requirements
7. Previous experience supervising a team, group, or department or experience in a management, leadership, or supervisory role.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Confidence managing groups of young people.
10. Ability to remain calm, professional, and organised in a classroom environment.
11. A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
12. Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
13. Right to work in the UK.
