Job Description
Ref: 10538
Locations: Exeter, Torquay or Barnstaple
About the firm
We’re excited to support the growth of a highly regarded and dynamic regional firm seeking a Senior Private Client Lawyer in the Estate Administration team. The firm has a strong local and regional profile with an impressive client base, experiencing exceptional growth and being one of the largest practices in Devon and Somerset. With offices in South Devon, North Devon, and Exeter, the firm promotes collaboration and a ‘low hierarchy’ environment, encouraging individual progression. This role is ideal for a motivated and experienced senior lawyer looking to take on a key position within a forward-looking, collegiate firm.
About the role
Based in Exeter, Torquay, or Barnstaple, you will join the Estate Administration team, managing a varied caseload from simple to complex estates work, including agricultural (APR) and business (BPR) property claims. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs, identify inheritance tax saving opportunities, and generate cross-referrals to other teams such as Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning. Your proactive approach to networking will help develop new business and serve as a role model for less experienced team members.
About you
You are an enthusiastic and experienced Private Client Lawyer, comfortable with all aspects of Estate Administration, and supportive of team development. You have a proven track record of meeting billing targets, high organization, and delivering excellent client service. You are likely STEP qualified or in the process of qualification, confident in providing technical advice, and able to work independently on complex matters. Resilient, organized, approachable, and friendly, you thrive under pressure and enjoy working as part of a dynamic team.
You also value business development, ideally possessing an established referrer network and regional connections.
Benefits include:
* 6 weeks holiday + birthday day off
* Additional days after 2 and 5 years’ service
* Profit-related bonus (after 3 months)
* Auto-enrolment pension
* Life Assurance
* Cash Health Plan
* Legal Fees cover
* Company Sick Pay
* Work from home policy
* Cycle to work scheme
* Salary Sacrifice car scheme
* Sabbatical leave every 3 years after 5 years’ service
