The Opportunity
This role has arisen due to programme expansion and the requirement for a senior construction professional to take ownership of early works delivery, ensuring safety, compliance, and seamless execution. You’ll join a high‑performing project team operating within a fast‑moving environment where your expertise in construction management, site leadership, and contractor oversight will be essential. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong HSE leadership, and a proven ability to manage complex construction activities from mobilisation to quality assurance. Your duties and responsibilities will be
* Implement HSE policy and ensure contractor compliance in line with the Construction HSE Management Plan.
* Oversee safe, structured, and efficient delivery of all early works construction activities in alignment with project schedule.
* Manage mobilisation and de‑mobilisation of construction resources.
* Confirm personnel competency, qualification alignment and compliance with training matrices.
* Audit and review construction processes, implementing recommendations as required.
* Ensure Management of Change (MOC) compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Oversee readiness of execution plan gate criteria and mitigation planning.
* Review contractor Quality Assurance and Inspection plans.
* Maintain project inspection, monitoring, and hold points.
* Inspect works for technical compliance with drawings, specifications, and scopes.
* Identify deficiencies and manage non‑conformance reporting and close‑out.
* Provide input to construction schedules and verify contractor progress reporting.
* Understand and interpret commercial and contractual requirements within EPCM environments.
* Apply strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and risk recognition capabilities.
* Assess working conditions, environmental considerations, and equipment application.
* Maintain working knowledge of relevant safety legislation including PTW, CDM, method statements, COSHH, and construction safety plans.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
* Minimum HNC in an engineering discipline or trade apprenticeship with appropriate technical qualifications.
* ECITB Temporary Works (or equivalent).
* CSCS Gold Card (or above) and current SMSTS qualification.
* Approx. 15 years’ management experience in engineering construction.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with a methodical, consistent approach.
* Ability to work independently and interface effectively with project stakeholders.
* Extensive experience with project management systems, construction practices, and procedures.
* High attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and accuracy in delivery.
* Demonstrable experience in a similar senior construction management position.
* Extensive understanding of construction processes and their management.
* Ability to deliver training and develop team members.
* Commitment to delivery, project goals, and high quality outcomes.

The setting for the role
This position is based onshore in the UK within a major infrastructure project environment. You will work closely with construction, engineering, and contractor teams on site, ensuring that early works are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project standards. The environment is dynamic, schedule‑driven, and requires a proactive leader committed to maintaining safety, quality, and progress.
